General Attractions

Be sure to make time to visit some of the fine local attractions including sports, entertainment, the arts, breweries, wineries, orchards, museums, opera, theatre, numerous galleries, horse-back riding, and gardens in the area.

Recreation

Cooperstown offers year round recreation from swimming and fishing to cross-country skiing, ice skating,and snow tubing. There is horseback riding at local stables and hiking in our state forests and right here at August Lodge. Leatherstocking Golf Course offers the most experienced golfer a challenge. Nearby Meadow links or the Otsego Golf Course are great too! There are boat rentals, excursions, baseball tournaments and much more.

Where to Eat

Cooperstown has a fine variety of dining experiences to fit every taste and budget. Fresh local produce is served in many of our restaurants complimented by libations from our breweries, wineries and cider mills. You can even rent a boat and dine on the lake watching the sun set behind our beautiful unspoiled landscape. Just around the block from August Lodge are six restaurants.

Museums

The Cooperstown area is internationally known for its wonderful museums and attractions including the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and many others. The exciting events scheduled yearly for Cooperstown is filled with educational, entertaining and interesting things to do, see and participate in.

Shopping

Antiques shopping in and around Cooperstown is a delight. Baseball fans will revel in the multitude of shopping choices for that favorite team cap or sweatshirt. Engraved bats are an especially popular souvenir item. In amongst the baseball stores you will find a great selection of shops and services.
